Smart TV Setup Guide for IPTV: Any Brand
A universal guide to setting up IPTV on a Smart TV: identify your TV's platform, find a compatible player, connect reliably and optimise picture settings.
Quick answer
Setting up IPTV on any Smart TV follows five steps: identify the platform (Tizen, webOS, Google TV, VIDAA or others), install a player that supports M3U or Xtream Codes, connect by Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi, add your playlist, then adjust picture mode and motion smoothing. If your TV's store has no suitable player, add a Fire TV Stick or Android TV box.

Every Smart TV brand uses a slightly different system, but the setup process is always the same: identify your platform, install a player, add your playlist and optimise a few settings.
Step 1: Identify your TV's platform
| Brand | Usual platform | Our guide |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung | Tizen OS | Samsung TV |
| LG | webOS | LG TV |
| Sony, TCL, Philips (some), Hisense (some) | Google TV / Android TV | Android TV |
| Hisense (most) | VIDAA | Other Smart TVs |
| Various | Roku TV, Titan OS and others | Other Smart TVs |
Not sure? Look in Settings → About / Support or check the model number online.
Step 2: Find a compatible player
Search your TV's app store for IBO Player or "IPTV player". A suitable player must support M3U playlists or Xtream Codes logins (check the app description).
If your TV's store doesn't have a suitable player, don't worry — plug in a Fire TV Stick or Android TV box. It's often the easiest solution for older TVs.
Step 3: Connect reliably
- Ethernet is best for a TV that stays in one place.
- On Wi-Fi, use the 5 GHz network and keep the router reasonably close.
- Make sure the TV's date, time and time zone are set automatically.
Step 4: Add your playlist
Open the player and enter your M3U link or Xtream Codes server, username and password. For IBO Player, follow how to set up IBO Player.
Step 5: Optimise picture and sound
- Picture mode: Movie, Cinema or Filmmaker Mode gives the most natural colours.
- Motion smoothing: reduce or turn off if movement looks artificial.
- Energy saving: eco modes dim the picture — turn them off for evening viewing.
- Sound: if using a soundbar, connect via HDMI ARC/eARC and enable HDMI-CEC so one remote controls the volume.
Step 6: Keep it updated
Enable automatic updates for both the TV firmware and apps. Updates often fix playback bugs and add codec support.
Common issues
- App runs slowly: power-cycle the TV (unplug for 60 seconds) and close background apps.
- App disappeared after an update: reinstall it from the store — activations linked to the MAC address normally remain valid.
- Picture stutters: see streaming quality problems.
